Teen driver arrested after head-on hit-and-run with Guelph city bus

By Mark Douglas

An 18-year-old has been charged for causing an alleged collision with a Guelph Transit bus and then fleeing the scene.

Guelph Police say the call came in around 9:00, Thursday night, from Ironwood Road near Cole Road — just off the Hanlon Expressway at Kortright Road West.

Police say the city bus had “significant front-end damage” but also confirm to 570 NewsRadio there were no injuries.

The bus driver told officers the bus had been hit head-on by a blue Dodge Ram pickup truck after it had crossed into the bus’ lane.

The pickup driver then allegedly reversed and drove off. Officers soon found another Ram pickup truck and found out one of the passengers was the driver of the other Ram.

He told officers to go check out the back of a nearby business, and that’s where they found the blue Ram with signs of damage.

The 18-year-old from Oxford County was charged with failing to stop after an accident.
