The East Avenue Blue are back in action tonight, hosting the Flint Firebirds at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium.
Kitchener dropped two of three last weekend and will look to revive their winning ways.
The Firebirds, meantime, have dropped five in a row and sit sixth in the OHL’s Western Conference while the Rangers remain in the hunt for first, one point back of the second place Windsor Spitfires and three points back of the league leading London Knights.
It was a big week for the Rangers with three players participating in the inaugural Connor McDavid Top Prospects Game in Brantford.
Defenceman Cameron Reid had three assists and was named the Western Conference MVP. Teammates Adrian Misaljevic and Luca Romano each had goals in the best-on-best showcase for NHL scouts.
Speaking of scouts, four Rangers were named in the NHL Central Scouting midseason rankings.
Reid was ranked 27th while Romano was ranked 35th. Rangers teammates Tanner Lam and Max Dirracolo also made the list at 175 and 205 respectively.
Tonight’s match-up is the first of two for the Rangers this weekend. They’re on the road Saturday night in Brampton for a rematch of last Friday’s 5-2 loss to the Steelheads.
Don’t miss a minute of the action this weekend. Mike Farwell and Paul Fixter bring the call live on 570 NewsRadio.
Tonight’s pre-game show begins at 6:30 p.m.
