Two years after shooting, Waterloo man faces attempted murder charge

After a shooting in Brantford from exactly two years ago, a young man from Waterloo is now facing charges.

Brantford Police said the shooting happened outside a home on Hampton Street, just east of that city’s downtown, on Jan. 16 in 2023.

After what police call a “continued and extensive investigation,” a 21-year-old man from Waterloo was arrested Wednesday.

He was charged with attempt to commit murder, and conspiracy to commit murder.

The shooting from two years ago happened at 6:30 a.m., and officers found a man outside a home suffering from a non-life threatening gunshot wound.

At the time, police said “this is not believed to be a random incident.”

Police say they can not say anything more about the case as it’s now going through the courts.
