Police arrest knife-wielding teen at Fairview Park Mall

Waterloo Regional Police were called to Kitchener’s Fairview Park Mall over the weekend due to reports a knife-wielding teen was threatening a victim.

Officers responded to the mall Sunday around 2:35 p.m. and said a male suspect was located inside.

It’s alleged the male teen was uncooperative and assaulted officers, who then used a conducted energy weapon.

Police say a knife was seized during the arrest. No injuries were reported.

A 17-year-old male from Kitchener is facing several charges including assault with intent to resist and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
