By the time the dust settles Monday morning, the top of the Ontario Hockey League standings could see some changes.
The Kitchener Rangers remains in first overall the London Knights and Windsor Spitfires are nipping at their heels.
London and Windsor are tied for second, one point behind the Rangers headed into tonight’s action.
It’s those Spitfires who visit the Kitchener Aud tonight. Last time these two teams tangled, the Spits thumped the Rangers 12-2. But a lot has changed since the second game of the season.
While last Tuesday night’s loss to London might not have been the Rangers’ shining performance, netminder Jackson Parsons was outstanding, stopping 35 of the 37 shots he faced. The East Avenue Blue could use another strong performance tonight against a Spitfires team that has no problem filling the net. Their 89 goals for are third-highest in the league behind Saginaw’s 96 and Kingston’s 92.
Rangers overage forward Jack Pridam is riding a three-game point streak with goals in back-to-back games. Look for him to continue his hot play.
Some late-breaking news Thursday night, the Rangers announced they had signed 17-year-old Haeden Ellis to an OHL development contract.
Ellis was an eighth-round pick by the Rangers this year and joins the club after starting the season in the USHL with the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders.
A Rangers press release says Ellis is committed to Northeastern University for the 2026-2027 season.
“We would like to welcome Haeden and the Ellis family to the Rangers organization. Haeden is a skilled, smart, and competitive player,” Rangers General Manager Mike McKenzie said in a release. “We look forward to playing a role and seeing his development in Kitchener and feel he will thrive in the positive and professional environment the OHL offers.”
Mike Farwell and Paul Fixter have all the action from the Aud tonight.
