Two motorists are now facing charges following a stop during proactive enforcement in the McQueen Shaver Boulevard area of Cambridge.
It was around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday when officers working proactive traffic enforcement spotted a transport truck pulling a trailer, travelling upwards of 107 km/h in a 60 km/h zone.
A traffic stop was initiated and during that stop, a pickup truck sped through the area, nearly striking the attending police officer.
A second officer in the area managed to stop that pickup, only to discover that the man behind the wheel was under a licence suspension. The driver, a 22-year-old man, was charged with driving while under suspension and failure to slow for an emergency vehicle.
The driver of the transport truck, identified as a 24-year-old Cambridge man, was charged with speeding, stunt driving and for failing to complete a daily inspection report.
Police have issued a reminder to motorists to slow down and give adequate space to emergency vehicles that may be stopped on local roadways.
