Two suspects sought after break-in, attempted vehicle theft in Kitchener

Waterloo Regional Police are now on the lookout for two suspects following a reported break-in and attempted vehicle theft in the City of Kitchener.

It was just before 5 a.m. when police say those suspects entered a home in the Deer Ridge neighbourhood while the homeowners were sleeping.

It’s believed they were looking for vehicle keys that were parked in the driveway.

Those suspects set off camera alerts, making enough noise to wake the homeowners, which prompted them to flee the area.

Police have said those suspects were possibly dropped off, and eventually picked up, by a vehicle that may have been circling the neighbourhood prior to the break-in.

The first suspect has been described as a thin man wearing a grey hoodie, grey gloves, grey Nike Tech Fleece track pants with a black zipper, and a pair of white shoes.

The other involved suspect is also described as a man with a thin build, seen wearing a black hoodie, a black face mask, red gloves and black track pants, as well as, white shoes.

Anyone with information that could assist police in their investigation, including those with video footage of the incident, is asked to contact the service’s Break, Enter and Vehicle Theft Team at BEVT@wrps.on.ca.

Anonymous tips can also be provided through Crime Stoppers.
