Regional police responding to attempted robbery in Kitchener

Waterloo Regional Police are responding to an attempted robbery in Kitchener.

It originally happened in the area of Highland Road West and Fischer Hallman Road around 5 p.m. Friday afternoon.

According to police, three suspects entered a store in the area and were allegedly armed with hammers. They then attempted to steal merchandise.

Bystanders stopped the three suspects and contacted police. When officers arrived they placed the three suspects under arrest.

Police note a heavy presence will remain in the area as the investigation continues.

Drivers and pedestrians are asked to avoid the area for the time being.
