15-year-old cyclist hit in crash in front of Guelph school

Careless driving led to a young cyclist getting hit by a vehicle on his first day of school.

That’s according to Guelph Police who say the 15-year-old cyclist had to be sent to hospital with minor injuries after the crash in the Paisley Road and Alma Street North area.

That is near Paisley Road Public School, which teaches around 400 hundred students from Kindergarten to Grade 6.

The crash happened 8 a.m. Wednesday morning, about an hour before the first bell of the new school year.

A 24-year-old Owen Sound woman has been since charged with careless driving.

In a release, Guelph Police stressing they would like to “remind all motorists to obey all speed limits and be aware of all road users.”
