Conestoga College extends president John Tibbits’ contract

The president of Conestoga College is getting a new contract.

The college announced that John Tibbits will continue to be the school’s president until August 31, 2025.

“This extension is a reflection of the board’s confidence in Dr. Tibbits’ ability to advance the college’s vision to be a recognized leader in applied learning and research that enables student success in meeting workforce demands,” said a statement from Conestoga College. “The Board of Governors looks forward to continuing our journey with Dr. Tibbits’ at the helm and is confident that his leadership will be instrumental in driving student success, advancing Conestoga’s strategic initiatives and preparing the next generation of Ontario’s workforce.”

Tibbits faced backlash earlier this year when he made derogatory comments against the president of Sault College.

Conestoga also reported a surplus of $251 million dollars between March of 2023 and 2024
