Three teenagers arrested and charged in connection with Cambridge shooting

Regional police have arrested three youths, including one 12-year-old girl, in relation to a shooting that took place in Cambridge on Sunday.

According to Waterloo Regional Police, the incident took place around 2:30 a.m. when three youths met up with a 22-year-old man in Cambridge and got into his car.

Once inside the car, the oldest of the three teens shot the victim, and the car was driven off the road and into the Grand River. The vehicle was partly submerged and the three teens escaped, leaving the victim behind.

The 22-year-old was transported to a local hospital with a gunshot wound.

On Wednesday, police arrested a 17-year-old boy, a 14-year-old girl, and a 12-year-old girl, all from Kitchener, in connection to the incident.

Police searched the homes of the three youths and discovered one gun along with ammunition.

The youths have been charged with robbery with a firearm, aggravated assault, and other firearm-related charges. The 17-year-old was additionally charged with discharging a firearm with intent.
