Kitchener Rangers duo earns gold medals representing Canada

A pair of Kitchener Rangers went for gold with Canada, and they got the hardware.

The duo of Luca Romano and Cameron Reid didn’t just represent the Rangers, but they also represented their country at the Hlinka Gretzky Cup in Edmonton when they won gold medals.

Team Canada earned their third consecutive gold medal at the tournament on Saturday, when they defeated Czechia 2-1.

While representing Canada, the 17-year-olds made contributions on the scoresheet that helped their country win the tournament for a 25th time.

Both played in all five of their teams games, with Romano potting three goals and Reid adding two assists, including one in the gold medal game.

After going for gold, Romano and Reid are set to rejoin the Kitchener Rangers, who open their preseason action against the Erie Otters at the Aud on Aug 30.
