Two teens injured by fireworks in Guelph during fight

Police in Guelph say a 16-year-old and 18-year-old were sent to hospital after they were hit with debris from fireworks.

It happened late Saturday night, in Northview Park, around Victoria Road North and Wideman Boulevard, near the north edge of the city.

Police say a driver flagged down patrolling officers just before midnight, and told them his friends had been hurt and needed an ambulance. Officials say two groups of youths got into a fight at the park, and a 16-year old girl and an 18-year-old man were hit with projectiles from fireworks.

They suffered minor injuries, and the 16-year-old was allgedly also sprayed with an unknown substance.

Both went to hospital for treatment.

There are no suspect descriptions at this time, and the investigation continues.
