Kitchener archer Eric Peters falls short at Paris Olympics

By CityNews Kitchener Staff

It wasn’t the end that he would have wanted, but he made his country and his hometown proud.

After passing the first two rounds of elimination, Kitchener’s Eric Peters was eliminated in men’s individual archery in the round of 8 on Day 9 of the Paris Olympic Games.

The 27-year-old lost 6-2 against Italian Mauro Nespoli.

Last year, Peters made history with his stunning silver medal in men’s individual recurve at the 2023 world archery championships, Canada’s best ever result in the event.

Peters took up the sport of archery at age 11, because of his interest in fantasy books and games.

The men’s individual archery event concludes Sunday morning at Day 9 of the Paris Olympics.
