Kitchener youth charged with first degree murder escapes Wilmot facility

A Kitchener teen is now at large after fleeing from a youth facility in Wilmot Township on Sunday.

It was around 1:20 p.m. when police say 16-year-old Makail Mohamed escaped lawful custody from a secure facility on Queen Street.

Police said Mohamed managed to make it to an awaiting vehicle, and was last seen fleeing the area in that vehicle.

Mohamed is said to be wanted on a warrant for both being at large without excuse and escape.

According to police Mohamed was in custody in relation to numerous charges that include first degree murder, robbery with a firearm and possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Anyone that spots Mohamed is asked to not approach him as he is considered dangerous. Instead police are asking the public to call 9-1-1 immediately.
