Kitchener man named in warrant after Montreal drug bust

A Kitchener man is now the subject of an arrest warrant after a five-month long investigation lead to a large seizure of drugs in Montreal.

Law enforcement officials say they seized 11.5 kilograms of suspected cocaine and 123 kilograms of illegal cannabis in May. Officials found inside shipping containers and allegedly ready for export at the port in Montreal.

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) said the seized drugs had a street value of $630,000.

On June 27, several agencies including Cambridge OPP teamed up to execute search warrants in Kitchener, Niagara Falls, Oakville and Brampton.

The case was a joint operation between the OPP, RCMP, Canada Border Services Agency, and several municipal police services.

A 37-year-old from Niagara Falls was arrested in those raids.

Damir Dedic, 53, from Kitchener has also been named in a warrant.

They’re both facing charges of trafficking and exporting a schedule substance, and importing and exporting cannabis.

An OPP statement said this case focused on “a network of individuals involved in drug trafficking, including the exportation of illegal cannabis and suspected cocaine.”
