It was a long afternoon in the university district of Waterloo, where police negotiated with a man they say barricaded himself in a building for three hours.
It all reportedly started with an assault near University Avenue West and Lester Street Tuesday afternoon.
Police were called around 2:45 p.m. to reports of a disturbance involving an intoxicated man.
The man allegedly assaulted someone before barricading himself in a residential building in the area.
Around 5:45 p.m., the man was safely arrested and sent to hospital to be assessed.
