Celebrating Canada Day in Waterloo Region

Our country is officially 157 years old, and there’s plenty to do around Waterloo Region today to celebrate its birthday.

In Kitchener, Canada Day in DTK starts at 2 p.m. at Carl Zehr Square with an evening concert featuring a performance by April Wine.

In Waterloo, you can spend the afternoon in Waterloo Park with local artists, food trucks and giant games at the community picnic. That runs from 4 p.m. until 10 p.m., with a 100-piece led drone show in the evening instead of fireworks.

In Cambridge, a fishing derby will kick off at 8 a.m. to celebrate the holiday, with a midway, live music, hot air balloon rides, food trucks, vendors, a children’s area and more.

The Cambridge Canada Day parade makes its way along King Street starting at 11 a.m.

In Woolwich, you can take a dip at a free swim at Woolwich Memorial Centre starting at 10 a.m., and later in the afternoon, there will be free events happening including a magic show, antique car show, live music fire truck tours and more.

The New Hamburg fireworks show starts at 9:30 p.m. at Norm S. Hill Park, and the Ayr show kicks off at 9:45 p.m. at Cowan Park.
