LRT service resumes after crash involving vehicle, ION train

A crash involving an ION train led to a temporary LRT service disruption on Friday afternoon.

Police confirmed to CityNews 570 they were called about a crash involving an ION train and a vehicle in the King Street and Mount Hope Street area of Kitchener.

It happened around 12:20 p.m. and no injuries have been reported.

Grand River Transit said ION train service was disrupted between the Willis Way/Waterloo Public Square and Grand River Hospital stations because of the crash.

Shuttle replacement buses were dispatched to the impacted area.

The disruption ended shortly after 1:30 p.m. and LRT service returned to normal.
