Waterloo Region: April weather look back

Temperatures for Waterloo Region were mostly average or above average according to the Eric D. Soulis Memorial Weather Station.
According to a May 1 report, the first half of April was warmer with temperatures dipping for a few cooler days in the last week. The maximum temperature reached was 23 C, with the minimum at -3.2 C.
Combining all the data, the report notes, the region saw temperatures two degrees above average.
“We have now had 5 months in a row that were warmer than average,” it reads.
Precipitation was slightly higher than average with 89 millimetres of rain for the month. The yearly total is below at 254.6 millimetres. All the precipitation that fell was rain in April, the report notes.
“We didn’t get any measurable snowfall during April, something that happens around every 5 years or so in our area,” it reads. “The total snowfall of 71.0 cm for the season was less than half the average of 159.7 cm.”
