Ellinas shines as Rangers open playoffs with win

The Kitchener Rangers opened the 2024 OHL playoffs with a win on Friday night. They took game one of their seven-game series against the Erie Otters 6-3.

Playing in his first OHL playoff game, Luke Ellinas scored two goals and added an assist.

“It was a great atmosphere, it was a really fun game,” said Ellinas. “We knew all season this is what it was leading up to, so we were really happy with how we played and it was a fun game out there.”

570’s Colour Commentator said it was an especially big win for the Blueshirts after they lost four games in a row to end the season including the regular season finale to Erie.

“I think it was a really important win for the Rangers,” Fixter said. “They had lost a number of games going into the playoffs, and it sets the tone for the series and they feel better about themselves and now they can forget about how the season ended and just look forward to building off this.”

Eduard Sale and Matthew Sop each had a goal and an assist in the win, while Jackson Parsons made 26 saves in net for Kitchener.

It was also a strong night on special teams for the Rangers as they scored twice on the man advantage and killed all four power plays they faced.
