A 16-year-old male youth from Kitchener has been arrested after waving a BB gun outside of St. Mary’s High School in Kitchener, according to Waterloo Regional Police.
The youth has since been charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and failure to comply with a probation order.
The police service announced on social media on Friday just before 1 p.m. that the high school was placed in a hold and secure due to a weapons investigation.
A few minutes later, police provided an update and said an arrest was made off school property with officers finding a gun.
The Waterloo Catholic District School Board confirmed the hold and secure at St. Mary’s was lifted later in the day.
Police said no one was hurt in the incident and there’s no ongoing safety concerns.
