No injuries after fire at Guelph brewery

By CityNews Kitchener Staff

Tuesday’s extreme heat led to challenging conditions for crews who responded to a brewery fire in Guelph.

The fire was reported around 11:15 a.m. at Wellington Brewery on Woodlawn Road.

The response prompted a temporary road closure as crews gained control of the scene.

Guelph’s Deputy Fire Chief told 570 NewsRadio that firefighters faced difficult conditions from the severe heat and humidity, as an orange warning for heat was in effect.

No injuries were reported and damage was described as being minor.

Wellington Brewery posted to social media that its doors will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday.

“We’ll have more updates to share soon, thanks for your understanding,” read the post.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
