Police investigating crash involving vehicle, ION train in downtown Kitchener

Waterloo Regional Police are investigating after a crash involving a vehicle and an ION train in downtown Kitchener.

It happened Tuesday afternoon in the Charles Street and Ontario Street area.

Police said there were no injuries in the collision and their investigation is ongoing.

The crash resulted in a temporary ION train service disruption between the Grand River Hospital and Kitchener Market stations.

Grand River Transit said shuttle buses were running instead through the impacted stretch. ION train service fully resumed shortly before 5 p.m.

It was the fourth straight day there was an ION train service disruption in Waterloo Region.

There was one in effect briefly Monday morning due to a reported collision. There was also a disruption that started late Saturday night and continued into early Sunday because of a collision involving an ION train, which resulted in charges for a Mount Forest woman including impaired driving.
