Service restored after ION disruption through K-W

ION light rail service has now been restored – following a collision-related disruption on Thursday morning.

That collision prompted Grand River Transit to halt ION service between Willis Way / Waterloo Public Square Station and Kitchener Market Station just after 9 a.m.

Trains were also reduced to one track in both directions between Laurier-Waterloo Park and Willis Way, as well as for the stretch between Kitchener Market Station and Borden Station.

Providing an update at 10:11 a.m., the region’s transit service provider indicated the collision had been cleared, with ION service to return to its regular schedule.
