Inn of Waterloo to become student housing

Months after closing shop, the Inn of Waterloo has been purchased.

Conestoga College has announced it is leasing the property on King Street North with plans on transforming the building into student housing to accommodate up to 300 students.

The Inn closed down in December almost three years after a fire in 2021 that caused $1 million in damage. Part of the hotel still needed to be restored when its doors closed for good.

The college stated in their announcement that the move is part of its commitment to “enhancing student experiences and meeting the demand for student housing.”

The announcement revealed that the college has secured eight properties in the last 10 months, including, most recently, apartment buildings at 400 Albert Street and 419 Hazel Street. The school anticipates they will add another 155 beds.
