Regional council to receive update on the plan to end chronic homelessness

Regional staff will be providing an update to regional council on how the funds for the Plan to End Chronic Homelessness will be used.

Two options have been crafted by staff on how to use the $10.2 million in the 2024 budget to fund the plan. The first option will see all items listed in “The Plan” giving equal proportional funding. The second option will see all service and program requests be fully funded and leave less money for other priorities.

Projects include a hybrid shelter, an encampment response and outreach team and portable rent supplements.

Staff had initially called for $14.2 million in November.

The meeting begins Wednesday night at 7 p.m.
