Rehkopf’s hat trick leads Rangers past Otters

Carson Rehkopf returned from a one-game injury absence on Friday night and scored a hat trick to lead the Kitchener Rangers to a win.

The Blueshirts defeated the Erie Otters 6-2. It was Rehkopf’s second hat trick in as many games.

CityNews 570 Colour Commentator Paul Fixter continues to be impressed by his play.

“Carson Rehkopf is on a mission this year to lead this team, and he’s done it,” Fixter said. “Getting the hat trick tonight, his 37th goal of the season in 32 games. And, that’s coming off a hat trick he scored in Sudbury, in his first game back from the World Juniors. I think he is playing at an elite level now, and he’s raising the bar for everybody else to follow him.

Matthew Sop added two goals in the win and Adrian Misaljevic scored his 22nd of the season.

Rangers Head Coach Jussi Ahokas said it was a strong team win.

“Six goals is a good thing. I thought our offensive zone play was good, especially in the 2nd period, we had plenty of changes,” he said. “All-in-all, four lines played well.”

The Rangers host the Ottawa 67’s on Sunday Afternoon. Pregame coverage on CityNews 570 begins at 1:30 p.m.
