Police investigating shots fired in a Cambridge neighbourhood

Waterloo Regional Police responded to reports of shots fired early Friday morning in the Sekura Street and Munch Avenue area in Cambridge.

Police said the shots were fired into a residence in the area of Sekura and Munch.

That’s just a short distance away from Waterloo Regional Police’s South Division headquarters.

The public is warned to expect an increased police presence around the scene for several hours.

Speaking during a media conference, police spokesperson Chris Iden said there were a minimum of 11 shots fired.

Police said no injuries have been reported as a result of the incident, and the shooting is believed to be targeted in nature.

They are asking for the public’s help in finding the driver of a white SUV with a missing passenger side headlight.

Sekura Street between Munch Avenue and Hilldale Drive is now open after a lengthy closure Friday morning.
