KW Titans get set for season opener

By CityNews Kitchener Staff

The KW Titans return for another season of basketball Saturday night.

The Titans host the Sudbury Five at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium with some new names on the squad and familiar ones.

Hometown player Juwan Miller, Head Coach Cliff Clinkscales and Owner David Schooley will all be out on the court.

Speaking with CityNews 570 Schooley said tonight’s home opener will feature can’t-miss action and every ticket purchased helps the Titans continue to get out in the community.

“We’re fostering a new relationship with the City of Kitchener as well, and we’re hoping to get our players and coaches out into those community centre programs. The Titans are here 12 months a year.”

This is also the first season that the Titans are playing in the Basketball Super League. The now defunct National Basketball League of Canada merged with the BSL earlier this year.

Schooley said the merger will give the Titans more exposure across the continent by travelling between the U.S. and Canada and facing off with mulitple American teams.

“There is going to be an incredible variety of teams to come and watch and working with the AUD this year we’ve gotten some exceptional dates. I think it’s the best schedule the team has ever had.”

The Titans look to start their new season with a bang. Tip off is at 7pm.
