Cambridge Fire investigating fire at The Bridges Shelter

Several Cambridge Fire crews were on the scene at The Bridges Shelter in Cambridge on Saturday morning.

The Cambridge Fire Department responded to the Cambridge Shelter Corporation building on Simcoe Street around 8 a.m.

The shelter is known as The Bridges.

One man was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The fire was contained to a limited number of units in the shelter. Cambridge fire continued working to prevent further damage and to allow everyone to re-enter the building safely.

Waterloo Regional Police told CityNews 570 that the cause of the fire is not believed to be suspicious.

Ainslie Street was blocked off in the area of Simcoe Road and Park Hill Road as the investigation continued.

Just after 2 p.m. on Saturday, Cambridge Fire reported that the scene was cleared.
