Collision in southwest Kitchener briefly leaves thousands without power

Just over 3,000 customers were left without power Monday morning following a collision in the southwest corner of Kitchener.

Enova Power Corp. said the outage impacted customers in portions of Huron South, Rosenberg and South Plains, around Fischer-Hallman Road and Huron Road.

Regional police confirmed they responded to the Trussler Road and New Dundee Road area around 5:05 a.m. for reports of downed power lines following a hit and run collision, which resulted in a road closure.

Further details on the crash were not immediately available.

Power was fully restored in the area over the noon hour and the impacted stretch of Trussler Road reopened.
