Two hat tricks lead Rangers to eighth straight win; 10-3 final

There were no hats left at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium at Tuesday night’s country themed Kitchener Rangers game.

Cowboy hat, toque or cap, they all made it on the ice after two hat tricks and a 10-3 Kitchener Rangers win over the Erie Otters.

Filip Mešár nabbed three of the ten goals with Antonino Pugliese netting four goals.

CityNews 570’s Colour Commentator Paul Fixter said it was an OHL career first for both players.

“It’s just the depth of this team is impressive, and I’m really happy for Pugliese (…) this is a kid who comes to play every night every night, regardless of the score, regardless of who they are playing, regardless of it’s at home or on the road, he plays hard.”

The Rangers are nearly perfect at home (11-1-0-0) with an eighth straight win on the season.

They have another test ahead with their first three-and-three this weekend, starting with the Owen Sound Attack on Friday night at the Aud.

“They [Owen Sound] were a little bit embarrassed the last time Kitchener went up there so that’s going to be a tough match. Guelph is always a tough match, sold-out building, Saturday afternoon in Guelph isn’t going to be easy. And then, you get on a bus and go to Flint. It’s a test. I can’t wait to see how Kitchener reacts [and] responds to.”

All those games can be heard live on CityNews 570 with Mike Farwell and Paul Fixter.
