School bus driver charged in Stratford, kids on board during crash

A school bus driver in Stratford has been charged after police say they crashed into a tree with 11 kids on board.

Stratford Police said it happened Thursday morning, around 8:30, on John Street near Dingman Place.

Police said the bus was coming southbound, left the roadway, and knocked down a tree – causing heavy damage to the front end of the bus.

Perth County Paramedics checked out all 11 elementary school aged kids who were on board at the time; one was taken to hospital for treatment of neck pain.

The bus driver also went to hospital with minor injuries.

Police noted there was no reasonable excuse for the bus driver to have left the roadway, so a charge of Careless Driving has been laid.
