You may need a pullover to put over your Lederhosen or Dirndl this Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest, not only are we into ‘festing’ season, it’s also a new season weather wise.

Welcome to autumn!

Fall officially began at 2:50 a.m. Saturday and with it comes seasonal temperatures, highs around 18 C, and lows of 8 C.

Trudy Kidd, warning preparedness meteorologist with Environment Canada notes it’s going to be pretty dry this next week, but as far as how to dress the kids for school?

She notes its always a battle between winter and summer.

“One day you’re wearing shorts and a t-shirt and then the next, you’re freezing cold, looking for wherever you put your toque. I wouldn’t rule snow out, especially for November. I think a lot of us in Kitchener-Waterloo can remember snow around Halloween.”

Kidd notes the models for October and November aren’t clear yet, but earlier predictions are calling for a seasonal but dry fall.

“Be prepared for anything, we all know weather can be wild and throw tons of crazy stuff at us…so far September looks to be on the drier side than normal, usually we get around 90 mm in September, we’re maybe one third of the way there.”
