London, Ont. man recorded couple in Airbnb bedroom: police

A London, Ont. man is facing a voyeurism charge after a couple inside an Airbnb rental discovered a hidden camera in the bedroom.
The London Police Service (LPS) said a couple were inside an Airbnb on Blackacres Boulevard on July 15 when they located a hidden camera. Investigators were contacted, and authorities began looking into the allegations.
On July 28, LPS Street Crime Unit members executed a search warrant and located video evidence of voyeurism.
Police said two unidentified victims were captured in the video evidence obtained.
On Monday, authorities arrested 41-year-old Abinash Samal of London, Ont. He’s been charged with one count of voyeurism.
The accused will appear in a London, Ont. court on Oct. 5.
A spokesperson with Airbnb tells CityNews the host was immediately removed from the online marketplace once the allegations were made.
“Airbnb bans hidden cameras,” the spokesperson said. “Shortly after the guest brought this allegation to our attention in July, we took action to remove this host from the platform.”
