St. Mary’s Memorial Hospital temporarily reduces ER hours

A hospital in the town of St. Mary’s is reducing its emergency department hours on Saturday.

St. Mary’s Memorial Hospital’s ER will close at 5 p.m., and reopen on Sunday at 7 a.m. At that point, the hospital’s ER will resume 24-hour service.

Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance (HPAC) cited health human resource shortages as the reason for the shortage.

Paramedics will still be available and will take individuals to the nearest 24-hour emergency department.

Those include Stratford General Hospital in Stratford, South Huron Hospital in Exeter, Alexandra Hospital in Ingersoll as well as both University Hospital and Victoria Hospital in London.

HPAC is advising to check with South Huron Hospital and Alexandra Hospital before going there to make sure they are open.
