Waterloo house fire deemed accidental, over $1 million in damage

The Waterloo Fire Department and Waterloo Regional Police Service (WRPS) responded to a residential fire on Monday morning on Seawind Trail.

No injuries were reported and the fire has since been deemed accidental, according to a police spokesperson.

Damage is estimated at over $1 million.

Crews had Seawind Trail closed both ends of the road at Chesapeake Drive for several hours Monday as a result.

Police added that there was nobody inside the home at the time of the fire, and the neighbouring homes had also been evacuated as crews began fire suppression.

Seawind Trail reopened to traffic around 3 p.m. Monday.
