Kitchener man charged after ‘internal thefts’ at Canada Post

A 61-year-old Kitchener man is facing several charges, with more pending, following a theft investigation at Canada Post.

It was on Wednesday when police were tipped off by postal Inspectors with Canada Post as to suspected internal thefts from one of their employees.

After an investigation, officers were able to arrest that Kitchener man.

Police also completed a search warrant of a residence in the Deer Ridge Drive area of Kitchener, recovering a “significant quantity” of stolen property, including deliverable parcels.

Those parcels were returned to Canada Post for delivery to their intended destination.

As a result of the investigation, the 61-year-old now faces the following charges:

  • Theft of Mail
  • Theft under $5,000
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000

The investigation is still ongoing, as regional police continue to work closely with Canada Post Security and Investigation.

Additional charges are anticipated.
