One person hurt after fire at Holborn Drive apartment building

An apartment building in Kitchener was evacuated on Thursday due to a fire.

Waterloo Regional Police said the fire occurred on Holborn Drive near Old Chicopee Drive just after 11 a.m.

A Grand River Transit bus was sent to the scene to provide shelter for the impacted residents.

The fire was extinguished and road closures were in effect in the area, but those started to open up shortly after 12:30 p.m.

One male was sent to hospital with minor injuries due to the fire.

The cause of the fire is not believed to be suspicious.
