Impaired driver almost hits officers at HWY 7 closure: OPP

By News Staff

A road closure was in place on Highway 7 Tuesday night after a fatal collision and OPP say a secondary crash almost occurred in the same area.

The highway closure was in effect at Guelph Line due to an earlier two-vehicle collision that resulted in the death of a driver.

According to OPP, a passenger vehicle was travelling towards the blockade on Highway 7 around 7 p.m. and allegedly approached the closure point at a high rate of speed.

Officers reportedly tried to flag the driver down but had to physically move out of the vehicle’s way to avoid being hit.

The vehicle then came to a stop and a 26-year-old man from Acton is facing several charges including dangerous and impaired driving.
