New 42 storey high-rise proposed for Kitchener

A new residential tower is being proposed for development near the corner of Victoria Street South and Park Street in Kitchener.

The development would see five residential and commercial properties impacted including three at 186-194 and 200 Victoria Street South and two at 97-101 Park Street.

The project lists the tower as a mixed-use development that will include 436 new residential units and three ground-floor commercial units.

Through the planning justification report prepared by Arcadis IBI Group these units breakdown into 87 one-bedroom, 137 one-bedroom and den, 74 two-bedroom, 36 two-bedroom and den, 40 bachelor and 62 three-bedroom units.

The proposal also lists 353 parking spaces, 296 bicycle parking spaces, amenity spaces and a public plaza at the east entrance of the site facing park street.

Private rooftop terraces are featured in the plans to be built on the 11th and 14th floors and a public terrace to be built on the 33rd.

Additionally, as per the planning report the developer intends to do extensive landscaping on the areas surrounding the build site.

The landscaping is partially intended to maintain a visual buffer between the tower and the nearby railway line.
