The Regional Police Canine Unit is getting credit for helping with an impaired driving investigation.
Sunday night, shortly after 10:30, police were called to a collision in the Hoffman Street and Kehl Street area of Kitchener.
Police say a driver attempted to drive away and was then in a second collision.
They then fled on foot.
The Canine Unit was called in and found the suspect a short time later.
A 31-year-old man from Kitchener is facing several charges including driving drunk.
This comes as Regional Police are putting an extra focus on impaired driving with their RIDE Program this month.
In 2023 alone, WRPS have laid 189 impaired driving charges resulting in 109 license suspensions.
