What’s open/closed on the Civic Holiday

The Civic Holiday is on Monday, August 1.

Here are the regional services that are impacted:

– There will be regular curbside collection of garbage, blue box, green bin, yard waste and bulky items on Monday. You are asked to have items at the curb by 7 a.m.

– Both landfills in Waterloo and Cambridge will be closed for residential drop-off on Monday.

– Grand River Transit (GRT) will operate on a holiday service schedule.

– All regional administrative offices will be closed Monday.

Banks and government offices will be closed on Monday.

Most major grocery stores will be closed but some will be open, and you're advised to check in with the location beforehand.

LCBO stores will be open along with some Beer Store locations. You can see the list below.

Kitchener:

1120 Victoria St. N. – 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.  
250 Bleams Rd. – 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. 
875 Highland Rd. W. – 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.   

Waterloo:

624 King St. N. – 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. (Drive-Thru Only)  
70 Weber St. N. – 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.   

Cambridge:

150 Holiday Inn Dr. – 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. (Drive-Thru Only)    
200 Franklin Blvd. – 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
