Kitchener man arrested in relation to robbery in St. Jacobs

By CityNews Kitchener Staff

The Neighbourhood Policing North Division of the Waterloo Regional Police have arrested a Kitchener man after a robbery in St. Jacobs.

Around 4:15 p.m. on April 27, police responded to a store robbery in the area of Weber Street North and Farmers Market Road, where a man allegedly entered the business, placing merchandise into a cart and leaving without paying.

When a staff member attempted to intervene, the man brandished a firearm and fled in a vehicle that was waiting outside.

But officers were able to locate and arrest the man, recovering the firearm — determined to be an imitation — in the process.

A 33-year-old man is now facing several charges: robber with a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and possession of stolen goods under $5,000.

No physical injuries were reported. The man was held in custody for a bail hearing.
