By CityNews Kitchener Staff

A Cambridge resident is facing criminal charges in Huron County in connection with a traffic investigation conducted by Ontario Provincial Police.

On Tuesday, provincial police responded to Orchard Line to investigate a report of dangerous driving and a fail to remain at the scene of a collision.

It's alleged a driver nearly drove into a young child on the property. A parked motorcycle was then struck, with the driver leaving the scene.

Police later located the alleged driver and an arrest was made.

52-year-old Brenda Smith has been charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, failing to stop after an accident, as well as failing to comply with a probation order (two counts).

The accused was released from custody and is due to appear in a Goderich court on May 30.
