Regional Chair Karen Redman running for re-election

By Mark Pare

The region's chair wants to stick around for at least the next four years.

Regional Chair Karen Redman said she will seek re-election in this fall's municipal vote.

She is in her first term in the position, after Ken Seiling held the job from 1985 to 2018.

Election announcements are going to be an ongoing thing for the next several months, with not only a municipal election October 24, but also a provincial election in June.

Municipally, Waterloo Mayor Dave Jaworsky said he will not go for a third term, Kitchener Mayor Berry Vrbanovic told CityNews 570 he is not ready to announce his future plans at the moment, and no word yet on whether Cambridge Mayor Kathryn McGarry will seek a second term.

The municipal election is scheduled for October 24.
