The provincial government is putting more money into a Kitchener multi-use trail.
Over $948,000 in funding was announced Friday for Schneider Creek Trail.
A media release noted that the investment will complete the 1.3 km asphalt multi-use trail. The portion will be used for walking, cycling, and other recreational modes of transportation such as skateboards and hoverboards.
Aiming to complete the missing piece of the TransCanada Trail, the project allows cyclists and pedestrians to connect between Hayward Avenue and Manitou Drive.
“Walking, hiking, and biking on community trails are popular choices of physical activity for many families in our community. Our government's investment in Schneider Creek Trail will attract local families and tourists for years to come,” said Amy Fee, MPP for Kitchener South-Hespeler.
In total, the expansion of the trail will cost close to $1.3 million.
