By CityNews Kitchener Staff

A science teacher at St. Mary's High School in Kitchener has received a Prime Minister’s Award for Teaching Excellence, Certificate of Excellence.

Steven Bryson teaches grades 9 through 12.

He was recognized for mobilizing students around science, technology, engineering, and math – and for creating opportunities to support students’ personal and academic growth.

Here is what a former student had to say about Bryson:

“Mr. Bryson has made me the student I am today by inspiring me to continue my studies in science, specifically chemistry. He provides engaging and creative ways to teach science to students and allow for a growing interest in the subject. He is also a role model in my studies and in my future career goals pursuing chemistry and possibly teaching the next generation of scientists.”

Each recipient of a Prime Minister’s Award receives a letter of congratulations and a certificate signed by the Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
