Waterloo pub up for sale after nearly 50 years of service

A popular pub near Uptown Waterloo has been listed for sale.

The Duke of Wellington opened in 1980 at 33 Erb St. W., at the site of the former Atrium building.

That building was sold in 2021 and has sat vacant since, with a potential demolition in the near future as the City of Waterloo prepares that parcel of land for the development of a 39-storey tower.

Following the closure of the Atrium building, the Duke of Wellington moved to 100 King St. S., and just five years later, it is up for sale.

“Don’t miss this opportunity to continue the legacy,” reads the listing for the business online.

The asking price to take on the business is just shy of $600,000. That’s the price for the business, not the building.

570 NewsRadio reached out to the owners of the Duke of Wellington for comment, but hasn’t received a response.
